His secular name is Bui Van Kieu, born in 1975 in Sau Thuong Hamlet, Thanh Luong Commune, Kim Boi District, Hoa Binh Province (now part of Phu Tho Province). He is the Abbot of Khai Nguyên Pagoda, located in Doai Phuong commune, Hanoi. His esteemed father was Mr. Bui Van Phan (born 1945), and his respected mother was Mrs. Bui Thi Lui (born 1947). The Venerable is the third son in a family of five siblings, two of whom have entered monastic life to follow the Buddha&#039;s path.]]>

The pagoda dates back to the first half of the 16th century. Over the years, the pagoda has been restored and renovated by the local people and Buddhist followers. Currently, its oldest historical artifacts include two stone stelae: one sculpted in the 19th year of the Canh Hung reign (1759), another sculpted in the 14th year of the Gia Long reign (1816); and a bronze bell cast in the 22nd year of the Tu Duc reign (1870).]]>
